Mecca recently announced that they would focus more on their online bingo business. This statement has baffled some close rivals in the business. Mecca Bingo executive Angus Nisbet, the director of gaming for Rank Interactive Development, made it particularly clear when he said that the bingo company will not be spending advertising money for television advertisements this year. Mecca Bingos plan certainly has created some confusion with their competitors.

Angus Nisbet’s interview with eGaming Review has provided insights into the companys strategies. He said that free bingo and spending money on TV advertisements will not be their priority. Nisbet, who is in charge of Mecca Bingos online site said, On a busy night, Mecca Bingo clubs have 80,000-100,000 playing compared to 15,000-20,000 online. Converting our customers who are already playing online to playing with us would do more for our business than a TV campaign ever would.

Mecca Bingo is also not worried that their real land-based players would play at other online bingo sites. He believes that it may be a challenge that their land-based customers are now playing in other online bingo sites but the good thing out of this is that if their customers want to play online then most likely, Mecca Bingo will have a strong chance to convince them to play bingo in their online site.

Nisbet also noted that competitor Cashcade, the parent company of online sites such as Foxy Bingo and Think Bingo are more focused on the short-term strategy of luring bingo players online by offering free bingo. Nisbet observes that they may have attracted a lot of traffic due to the free bingo model but the strategy may only be good for the short-term as some customers may find it annoying to see a rising number of people at the free online bingo sites.
Mecca Bingos move is an attempt to shift to the online bingo world while they continue domination in the real world bingo.
